From January 21 to February 13, 2022, Lunar New Year Festival at Disney California Adventure Park offers unique entertainment, food, and merchandise offerings for guests coming together to celebrate Chinese, Vietnamese and Korean cultures.

Being the foodies we are, the first stop had to be the festival booths! Come along with us as we try some of the specialty items from this year and go over our favorites and our skips!

Mickey Purple Sweet Potato Macaron $6.50 –Red Dragon Spice Traders Booth

This red macaron is filled with purple sweet potato buttercream with a crème fraiche center. This is always one of our favorite returning offerings at this festival, great texture and easy to bring home extras!

Impossible Lion’s Head Meatballs $7.50 – Red Dragon Spice Traders Booth

This is mini-plant based pork meatballs served with cabbage and Shooxijg Wine reduction. We say pass on this one. While it did taste close to meat, just not one of our favorites and there are better options. If you are looking for only vegan options, this may be a good option for you.

Spicy Three-Cup Chicken $8.00 – Red Dragon Spice Traders Booth

This is a Spicy Three-Cup Chicken bowl served on a bed of jasmine rice with a small garnish on top . If you’re looking for something spicy, this is a dish to try! It had great flavor and went well with the jasmine rice.

Char-Siu BBQ Pork Bao $8.00 –The Prosperity Bao & Buns Booth

Time for one of our favorites! This is a Chinese BBQ pork with pickled red onions and jalapeño. The meat was very tender and all the flavors paired together while also having a lovely contrast. Try this one!

NEW Peach Yuja-Ade $6.50 – Lucky 8 Lantern Booth

This is a light refreshing peach, yuja, dragonfruit, lemon and butterfly pea flower tea. There’s an alcoholic option if wanted, but we tried the regular version. The flavors blended together well and it has a beautiful coloring from the butterfly pea flower tea.

Shrimp Fried Rice with Garlic Bacon Edamame $8.00 – Lucky 8 Lantern Booth

This sadly, made it to our pass list. The shrimp was dry and was not cooked well. There are much better protein options at the festival that are well more worth the money.

Beef Bulgogi Short Rib $8.25 – The Prosperity Bao & Buns Booth

This Beef Bulgogi Short Rib is paired with a green onion salad that makes for a great combo. The meat was cooked perfectly and had great seasoning while the salad added some zest. This was our favorite item we tried and would recommend it to anyone visiting Disney California Adventure. A light dish that will give you energy!

Spicy Pork Dandan Noodles $7.50 – Longevity Noodle Co.

These pan-fried noodles with ground pork and a spicy tri-chile blend were almost so good. The sauce and spice level were on point but the salt overpowered the dish.

Garlic Noodles $7.00 – Longevity Noodle Co.

This dish presents long noodles tossed in a zesty garlic butter with parmesan cheese, kinda basic. The garlic butter tasted good with the noodles, but there was too much parmesan and also once, too salty. This booth was a pass for us.

That’s a wrap of what we tried at Lunar New Year! Thanks for reading along and let us know what you’re looking foward to trying in the comments below.
