A little over a year ago Disney parks announced that they have decided to retheme the Splash Mountain attraction. The new change would feature Disney favorite film, “The Princess and the Frog”.
At the time, some concept art was released. Now during World Princess Week, Disney Imagineers have shared some new details to come to the Disneyland and Walt Disney World attraction.
An esteemed group of Carmen Smith (Creative Executive, Vice President, Inclusive Strategies for Walt Disney Imagineering), Charita Carter ( Senior Producer for Walt Disney Imagineering), Marlon West (VFX Supervisor for Walt Disney Animation Studios, along with Stella Chase Reese (daughter of Leah Chase and Dooky Chase owner) sat at New Orleans’ Dooky Chase restaurant. This dining location and Leah Chase are said to be the inspiration behind Tiana and her story.
Tiana will invite guests on an adventure down the bayou. This attraction will be newly innovative in the way that Tiana will acknowledge and react to Guests. All of your favorite characters will be there along with some new friends. The adventure will conclude with a big Marsh Gras party, thrown by the princess herself!
When it comes to the technology used in this attraction. The scene will be immersive and the Audio Animatronics will be newly innovative as well.
We can’t wait to see what more is in store for this new “Princess and the Frog” attraction! No official date for when this ride will be coming to Disneyland or the Walt Disney World Resort, but we will keep you updated as more develops!
