Splash Mountain in Disneyland permanently closes on Tuesday, May 30, 2023 – with long lines on the attraction’s last day, as guests waited to ride it one last time.
Wait times as high as 200 minutes were seen throughout the attraction’s final day.
The line also went as far as New Orleans Square’s Pirates of the Caribbean attraction.
The ride is closing to begin renovations and rebranding of the ride as Tiana’s Bayou Adventure.

The new concept for the ride is based on the animated film by Disney called The Princess and the Frog, released in 2009.
The rebranding will be at both Disneyland and Walt Disney World in Florida; it closed at Disney World on January 23, 2023.
The attraction is set to re-open at both parks in late 2024.
Splash Mountain first opened in 1989 in Disneyland.
In June 2020, Disney announced they would re-theme Splash Mountain to The Princess and The Frog.
The announcement came during the George Floyd protests; however, it was revealed via the New York Times that the removal of the Song of the South theme was discussed by Disney executives for a least five years prior to the announcement.
