Star Wars Celebration: Day 1 Announcements

Sadly and with very broken hearts, due to unforeseen circumstances, we here at Dorky Parks Dad were not able to attend Star Wars Celebration this year (next year we will make it!) BUT never fear, we are following along to bring you as much information as we possibly can. Here are some highlights from the opening ceremony this morning and stay tuned each day as we share the biggest news with you!

Not only did EWAN MCGREGOR and HAYDEN CHRISTENSEN make a surprise appearance during the opening ceremony, but there were a few other exciting announcements too! (Holy cow are we upset that we missed this moment, but nevertheless…)

What we learned is coming to Disney+:

‘Andor’ – Diego Luna, who was present at the opening ceremony, returns in his role as Cassian Andor (from ‘Rogue One’) in a 12 episode, 2 season series that is set 5 years before the events of ‘Rogue One’. Check out the ‘Andor’ teaser trailer! Premiers August 31st!

‘Willow’ – director Ron Howard presented the upcoming series based on the 80s film, set to star Warwick Davis and Joanne Whalley, returning from the original. This series is set 25 years after the original with new characters in addition to the returning actors. Premiering November 30th

‘The Mandalorian’ season 3 and ‘Ahsoka’ series will premiere in 2023. Katie Sackoff will return to ‘The Mandalorian’ as Bo Katan in the new season as well as plenty of Grogu for us all.

‘Star Wars: Skeleton Crew’ starring Jude Law will be released sometime in 2023; a series about “a group of kids who accidentally get lost in the Star Wars world and are trying to get home” according to director Jon Watts. This show is in the same timeline as ‘The Mandalorian’ and ‘Ahsoka’.

In other news, Harrison Ford also popped in to wish legendary composer John Williams a happy *belated* 90th birthday! He also stated that the newest Indiana Jones film will be released June 30, 2023!
