
Walt Disney World Refurbishment Schedule for January and February 2023
If you’re planning on going to Walt Disney World in early 2023, then it helps to know which rides will be closed for refurbishment! After all, attractions close for routine maintenance, safety upgrades, improvements, and reimaginings. In a few circumstances, a closure may even be permanent.
While no one wants attraction downtime during their trip to Walt Disney World, refurbishments are necessary to keep the rides safe and in high quality for future visitors. Usually, there are only a handful of simultaneous closures, plus new attractions being built.

Magic Kingdom
Big Thunder Mountain Railroad will close for refurbishment on January 9th. It will fortunately be a brief maintenance period. The ride will reopen January 14th, 2023.

Splash Mountain will permanently close on January 23rd. Disney will be working on making a new ride experience called “Tiana’s Bayou Adventure” set to open 2024.

Disney’s Hollywood Studios
For the First Time in Forever: A Frozen Sing-Along Celebration will close January 9th and reopen January 28th, 2023.
Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith will close February 20, 2023 for a lengthy refurbishment. The “rocktastic attraction will resume its super-stretch limo rides in summer 2023.” Also, this will be for regular maintenance and there will be no changes to the Guest experience as a result of this routine refurbishment.

Disney’s Animal Kingdom
Kali River Rapids will close January 9th for refurbishment. The reopening date is TBA, but will likely be back in business for guests be late Spring.
Epcot
Even though no current attractions will be undergoing refurbishment in early 2023, please be mindful of the construction taking place throughout the front half of the theme park.
