Well. we have some answers for you.

Walt Disney World-

At the Walt Disney World Resort, Guests have already started to take notice of the new Lightning Lanes being put into place at some attractions. The Lightning Lane comes to us as a part of the new Genie+ app service. Genie+ is a new and innovative way to plan your park day efficiently, while still leaving room for more spontaneity. This app service introduced Walt Disney World guests to the replacement of FastPass+ with Lightning Lanes.

The two are quite similar in the way where the objective is to move through attraction queues a lot more quickly. However, the two share one big difference. In order to gain access to a Lightning Lane, Guests will have to pay for the Genie+ service, or pay for individual Lightning Lanes.

So how does work for E-ticket attractions like, Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance?

Well, first, you do not have to select your Lightning Lane selections days before your trip. Guests will have to go to their MyDisneyExperience App at 7:00 A.M. and pick your first Lightning Lane selection at this time. The great thing about this option is that you do not have to be staying at a Walt Disney World Resort in order to make your Lightning Lane selection.

If you choose the a la carte option, the process is pretty much the same. Only, now you have a bit more freedom to go about your park day and be a bit more spontaneous. You don’t have to be on the app right at 7 A.M. You can choose which Lightning Lane you want at any time. But keep in mind that availabilities for more popular attractions can run out.

Pricing for the all day Genie+ Service will be $15 per person. So far, no prices have been given for the individual à la cart option. but, stay tuned as we update you with the latest news.

Disneyland

When it comes to Disneyland, says will be in place. It is unclear whether Disneyland will also be receiving Lightning Lanes, however, there is no return of the MaxPass.

So for attractions like WEBSLINGERS and Rise of the Resistance, we can expect similar changes. Guests will have to use their Disneyland mobile app and will be able to select their boarding groups at 7 AM.

Disneyland Guests will also have the advantage of pre-checking in the members of their boarding group before 7AM. This will help avoid any lag in the system that’s been happening recently with boarding groups in the app.

Essentially, what we’re looking at is a way of kind of going back to basics when it comes to attraction stand by queues and a bypass or quicker queue option. But, instead of getting paper wait time, everything will be digital and with the help of the Genie service.

Once these changes begin to be put into place, we will update you with the latest.
