We’re back with another foodie review with the Dorky Dad! This time we’re reviewing one of his favorite dining locations at the Disneyland Resort, Carthay Circle.
Carthay Circle is located in Disney California Adventure and is your portal to not only delicious dining, but to the glitz and glam that was old Hollywood. Upon entering the lounge, you are immediately transported to another time.
This dining location reopened when the theme parks did during the global pandemic, but was only offering outdoor or Alfresco dining, with a limited menu.
Now, Guests can dine inside and soak up the full ambiance and glamour that is Carthay Circle. But how do the two dining experiences compare?
This dining experience was put in place of in house dining, to comply with California health and safety regulations due to the pandemic. However, despite the slight difference in ambiance, the restaurant was still able to create a pleasant dining experience.
Alfresco dining at Carthay offers a lighter menu. This Dork does like the smaller bites menu, but really enjoyed the desserts compared to the regular dining desserts. Eric recommends the Double Chocolate Ice Cream Sundae.
When it comes to cocktails, they are very similar to the selection inside the restaurant. Although, keep in mind, that options are a lot more limited during Alfresco dining.
The Dorky Parks Dad says that dinner at Carthay Circle is very different from Alfresco service.
He says that the meal is definitely worth the price. Eric ordered the steak and it was seasoned and cooked perfectly and even says the same about the pork chops.
The one difference he noticed was that they do no offer complimentary bread. However, you can purchase a bread loaf for the table for only $10.
Eric also loves the dinner service dessert , but recommends the Valrhona Chocolate Cream Puff.
As far as the atmosphere and overall experience goes, the Cast Members were very attentive and check up on you often. Eric said that it really reminded him of the atmosphere inside Disneyland’s Club 33.
We think either way you slice it, whether you go to Carthay Circle Restaurant for dinner or for Alfresco dining, there’s plenty to enjoy!
Have you ever dined at Carthay Circle Restaurant at Disney California Resort? Let us know in the comments!
Welcome to the first of many Dorky Dad foodie reviews! If there’s one thing this dork knows, is where to find the best eats and drinks throughout the Disneyland Resort! We’ll even share his top dining tips!
Let’s start with brunch…
Lamplight Lounge Brunch (DCA)-
The atmosphere is a big reason why everyone should dine at the Lamplight Lounge at least once! But, this Dorky Dad stays for their brunch that’s from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Trust this dork, you’re not going to want to miss this!
Move over Lobster Nachos, because Eric says that brunch at Lamplight is always amazing. He even prefers it to their usual menu!
The Indulgent French Toast is so delicious! The Lamplight Chilaquiles are to die for. And you have to try the incredible Brunch Burger that comes with a fried egg on top!
After all that yummy goodness, wash it all down with Lamplight Lounge’s impressive Specialty Beverages.
Eric highly recommends the Mimosa Flight, the Beermosa, and the Cinnamon Toast Cocktail! He really enjoys how this eatery carefully crafted these cocktails to pair perfectly with each meal! And it’s a 10/10 for us!
So rise and shine and make your way over to the Lamplight Lounge for brunch! You won’t regret it!
Have you tried brunch at the Lamplight Lounge in Disney California Adventure? If you have, what’s your favorite dish to get? Let us know in the comments!

Beginning October 1, 2021 the resort’s celebration will be in full swing and will last for a full 18 months!
Disney has been working on this nighttime spectacular for a while now, and it definitely looks worth the wait. Harmonious will tell familiar tales with music we all know and love. The show will include fountains, fireworks, lighting, visual effects, and multimedia magic.
You’re not going to want to miss this larger than life nighttime spectacular at EPCOT’s World Showcase!
Disney Enchantment at Magic Kingdom-
At Magic Kingdom, you will want to make sure you don’t miss the new nighttime spectacular, Disney Enchantment. This special experience will feature beloved Disney music, impressive lighting, and a stunning firework display. But that’s not all, projection effects will cover Cinderella Castle and even Main Street, U.S.A.
Speaking of Cinderella Castle, this Magic Kingdom staple has undergone a massive makeover! The castle has received some major decor updates. Gold detailing and beautiful, glistening draping has been added along with EARidescent accents.
EARidescent is officially the signature color of the 50th celebration. It’s multicolored shimmer effect makes everything look a little more bright and special for the royal celebration! This is just one of the Beacons of Magic coming to the resort this October.
EPCOT’s Spaceship Earth will illuminate the night with its reflective panels. At Disney Hollywood Studios the Hollywood Tower will look glitz and glam with EARidescence. Last, at Disney’s Animal Kingdom, the Tree of Life will be lit with enchanted fireflies!
Disney Fab 50 Character Collection-
